Grounding for Peace, Calm & Health

Hello All. Today on Mudita Monday (Instagram Live yoga, intention setting - Mondays @ 8 AM (CT)), I shared my experience with coming back to a daily grounding practice and some of the health benefits of grounding. We can often feel drawn to complex ways of healing, but moving toward greater health, peace, calm, easefulness and relaxation can actually be a lot more simple than we think. Placing our hands, feet or any part of our body on the Earth, letting our skin touch the Earth in order to ground the body, is a great way to come back to balance within ourselves.

I shared 4 of my favorite evidence-based benefits of grounding:

~ Grounding reduces inflammation in the body

~Grounding helps to lessen physical pain in the body

~Grounding can help you sleep better

~Grounding reduces stress in the body (bringing you out of “Fight or Flight” and into “Rest and Digest”)

Today, or sometime this week, I invite you to take 10 minutes and go outside barefoot. Stand on the Earth, connect with the Earth’s energy and see if you can discern any shifts in your body, heart and mind. I bet if you close your eyes and connect inward with your body, you will notice a shift. Try out this practice, especially if it’s new to you, anytime you think about it, but especially when you find yourself experiencing stress or anxiety.

I’d like to reiterate that grounding is 100% FREE and does not require you to buy anything. All you need is to go put your skin on the Earth. I mention this because there are some really cool grounding gadgets out there (I have used a grounding mat and LOVE it), but these things are not necessary to have a daily grounding practice.
